SUBJECT: QUANTAR 900MHZ 100W POWER AMPLIFIER (TLF1800A/B).

MODEL AFFECTED: T5365A QUANTAR - ONLY.

SYSTEMS AFFECTED: CONVENTIONAL AND TRUNKING.

 

 

PSB # 860A CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING CHANGE FROM THE ORIGINAL PSB # 860

Extension of the Expiration Date from December 31, 1999 to December 31, 2000.

SYMPTOM: Low or No Power Out of the 900Mhz Quantar.

CAUSE: All 900MHZ 100W Power Amplifiers (TLF1800A/B) shipped prior to 12/05/98 may be operating with a degrading 35W power amplifier module (TLF6940A). The degradation is caused by a cracked or burned solder joint or capacitor with reference designator C4311 on TLF6940A.

RESOLUTION: If your 900MHZ 100W Power Amplifier (TLF1800A/B) fails for low or no power out, contact the System Support Center at 1-800-221-7144 and make reference to this bulletin. Do not attempt to replace the capacitor in the field.

If the Station Failed In Warranty: The System Support Center will repair the Power Amplifier at no cost to the customer.

If the Station Failed Out of Warranty: The System Support Center will inspect the Power Amplifier and if the failure is caused by a degrading 35W power amplifier module (TLF6940A) it will be repaired at no cost to the customer.

NOTE: This problem has been corrected in all 900Mhz Quantars shipped after 12/05/98.

 

Authorized Motorola Service Shops will be allowed 1 hour labor to change the Power Amplifier and align the station plus travel time to the site by referencing this bulletin on the standard labor claim form R021-19.
