SUBJECT: QUANTAR /QUANTRO 6809 TRUNKING MODULATED AUDIO

 

 

MODELS AFFECTED : T5365A WITH X989 OR X992 OR X996 OR X997 OPTIONS

 

SYSTEMS AFFECTED : Any 6809 Trunking site with Quantar/Quantro Repeaters running firmware version 7.0-8.5

inclusive/ Analog Only

 

ISSUE : A failure to transmit the failsoft code word and tone unmodulated carrier, or a distorted version of the code word. During failsoft a failure to transmit the failsoft code word and failsoft indicator tone can occur ( unmodulated carrier) or a distorted version of the code word. A repeater that was the control channel prior to entering failsoft and exits failsoft as a voice channel may not repeat the inbound audio. However, the channel will still be assignable as a voice channel. When the repeater is assigned it may do one of the following:

A. Transmit without modulation (dead carrier) or,

B. Transmit a distorted waveform that can be heard at the receiving radios.

 

RESOLUTION : Replace firmware with version 9.3 Please contact the SSC at 1-800 448-3245 or (847) 576-7300.

 

Before contacting the SSC, please have the following information available for them:

 

1- Serial number of the station(s) requiring the upgrade

2- The station control board part number for the station(s) requiring an upgrade

2A- Does the station control board have ether parts on it ?

3- The wireline board part number for the station(s) requiring an upgrade

 

Authorized Service Shops will be allowed 15 minutes per station plus travel by using the standard R021-19 Labor warranty claim form and referencing this psb #.
