DATE: March, 1999

EXPIRES: February 28, 2000

SUBJECT: QUANTAR MISSES TONE REMOTE CONTROL (TRC) KEY-UPS ON CHANNELS CONFIGURED FOR PL/DPL

MODELS AFFECTED: T5365A QUANTAR/QUANTRO

SYSTEMS AFFECTED: CONVENTIONAL WITH TRC CONSOLE AND/OR TRC C0MPARATOR

SYMPTOM: When back-to-back TRC calls are made on a Conventional Quantar, the Quantar intermittently misses the TRC request and fails to transmit wireline audio.

CAUSE: The Quantar software is busy transmitting 180 milliseconds of reverse burst at the end of a TRC call while a new TRC request is being inputted to the Quantar. The Quantar drops all incoming TRC requests while transmitting reverse burst.

RESOLUTION: Quantar software version 10.1.2 or later has been modified to abort all reverse burst processing, process the incoming TRC requests, and successfully transmit the wireline audio.

STATIONS WITHIN WARRANTY, OR COVERED UNDER EXISTING SOFTWARE SUBSCRIPTION AGREEMENT (SSA):

Users of the TRC keying feature can obtain version 10.1.2 or later at no cost by contacting the System Support Center at 1-800-221-7144 and press option numbers 2.4.1. Please have the Quantar serial number and station ID readily available. Software Subscription Agreement (SSA) subscribers should contact either their Motorola System Manager or System Integration (SI) specialist to order the software at no cost.

STATIONS OUT OF WARRANTY:

NOTE: The serial number is contained in the Quantar code plug. The station ID can only be obtained when directly connected to the Quantar with the Quantar RSS. The station ID is a hexadecimal number listed on the station control/wireline digital metering screen.
