APC # 225,448,482,509 SCHAUMBURG, IL 60196 Date: OCTOBER, 1996 (847)576-0180 EXPIRES : N/A Subject: QUANTAR/QUANTRO BASE & REPEATER STATIONS NOT GENERATING BSI (BASE STATION IDENTIFICATION) MODELS AFFECTED: T5365A QUANTRO/QUANTAR STATIONS SYSTEMS AFFECTED: CONVENTIONAL ONLY ISSUE: When stations/channels are programmed as Conventional Astro only or Conventional Secure only BSI will not be transmitted from those stations. The station will keyup but the BSI audio beeps will be muted. NOTE: This issue has been present in firmware releases 6.0 through 8.1. SOLUTION: Configure the station for Mixed Mode Operation using the RSS as follows: If the channel �Modulation Type� is set as �Astro Only� (on the Main Change/View codeplug information screen) then change the �Modulation Type� to �Analog/Astro�. Also, in order to prevent Analog signals from being repeated, set the �Analog Repeater Activation�, �Analog Repeater Hold-in� to the OFF position on this same screen field. If the channel �Modulation Type� is set as �Secure XL� (on the Main Change/View codeplug information screen) then change the �Modulation Type� to �Analog/Secure XL� on this same screen field. Add the station�s ID to the �Call Sign� field (on the Main Change/View codeplug information screen). If the �Call Sign� field is left blank, then no BSI will be sent out.
