Subject: DROPPED TYPE 1 CALLS DUE TO CONFIG OF TX IDLE
FREQUENCY NOT EQUAL TO REPEAT FREQUENCY

MODELS AFFECTED: 6809 TRUNKED OR INTELLIREPEATER QUANTAR/
QUANTRO BASE STATIONS

REFERENCE NUMBERS: DDTS# TRKrs03006; FRB # 287 .

ISSUE : DROPPED TYPE 1 CALLS.

Intermittent dropped calls are experienced in a type 1 system
when the Tx idle frequency is programmed to be not equal to the
repeaters active transmit frequency. A similar symptom may be encountered
with type II or hybird systems. The problem is due to an
unavoidable delay when changing frequencies when keying up.

WORK AROUND : SAME AS SOLUTION, MAKE TX IDLE = TX ACTIVE
FREQUENCY

Do not programm the Tx idle frequency to a value different
than the active Tx frequency in trunked systems.

SOLUTION : THE R9.0 RSS WILL CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING HELP TEXT

NOTE: The actual channel keyup time (i.e., time for the
station to switch from the Idle frequency to the channel transmit frequency),
will be directly proportional to the frequency difference between
the Tx Frequency and the Tx Idle Frequency. Certain applications
(Trunking) require minimal delay between switching between these
states. In Trunking configurations, make the Tx Idle frequency
the same as the Tx Frequency .
